Green Tea and Eye Diseases

Substances in green tea are able to penetrate eye tissue, which can protect against eye diseases such as glaucoma.

Chi Pui Pang of the Chinese University of Hong Kong and fellow researchers orally administered a green tea extract and measured catechin and what is know as 8-epi-isoprostane, a marker of oxidative stress.

Results indicate that green tea consumption could benefit the eyes against oxidative stress, a major factor in eye diseases.
