Krill oil comes from krill of course, which are small, shrimp like crustaceans that inhabit the cold ocean areas of the world. They are found primarily in the Antarctic and North Pacific Oceans.
Despite their small size–1-5 cms in length–krill make up the largest animal biomass on the planet. There is aid to be approximately 500 million tons of krill roaming around in the above mentioned waters, 100,000 tons of which are harvested per year.
Krill oil, like salmon and other fish oils, contains both of the omega-3 fats, eicosapentanoic acid (EPA) and docosahexanoic acid (DHA), which are essential for ideal health.
Krill oil contains vitamin E, vitamin A, vitamin D and canthaxanthin, which is — like astaxanthin — a potent anti-oxidant. The potency of Krill Oil versus fish oil using the ORAC* value is over 48x higher with Krill!
(*ORAC value is Oxygen Radical Absorption Capacity). The higher the number, the more beneficial it is to your system.)
A number of my patients reported great success using this. I have noted that the pain relief from using this post-exercising/post-training is about the same in terms of time but is stronger in terms of action.
It is a substance worth adding to your protocol.
